Having lived in Seyðisfjörður since the 1980s, he was until recently the director of Tækniminjasafn Austurlands and was instrumental in the founding of both Skaftfell and the Dieter Roth Academy. He has enjoyed a crucial role within the cultural life of the town and has diligently worked as an artist while also generating opportunities for other artists.
