Lecture – Frontiers of Solitude

Curator Markus Þór Andrésson will give a lecture in Herubreid Community Centre, as a part of the international collaboration project Frontiers of Solitude. Markus will present Icelandic artists and exhibitions dating from 1971 with a focus on visual art and ecology, environmental protection and sustainability. Frontiers of Solitude is an international collaboration between artists and arts organizations in three European countries: Skolska28 (Czech Republic), Atelier Nord (Norway) and Skaftfell. Parallel Line Up in Breiðdalssetur

In her current project ‘Parallel Line Up’ Berlin-based artist Jenny Brockmann investigates environment, its dynamics and how poeple interact with it. She researches volcanic and geological processes that contain either the creation of new landscapes or their destruction. Central to the focus of her work is the examination of how data is collected, moreover how this collection of data and its visualization impacts upon the viewer.
