Booking information can be found on their website:\u00a0<strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.smyrilline.com\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">http:\/\/www.smyrilline.com<\/a><\/strong>\u00a0 This is probably the most beautiful way to arrive in Iceland, and you\u2019ll set foot on land right at Skaftfell\u2019s doorstep. Bring seasickness tablets.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>By plane:\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>When arriving in Iceland at Keflavik International Airport, Sey\u00f0isfj\u00f6r\u00f0ur is still a small journey away.\u00a0You will first have to make the transit from Keflavik Airport to the Reykjav\u00edk Domestic Airport:\u00a0\u00a0There are several companies providing an airport bus\u00a0service, for example Flybus,\u00a0which will take you to the BS\u00cd central bus station. From BS\u00cd it is a 20 min walk or short taxi ride to the Reykjav\u00edk Domestic Airport (for Air Iceland Connect).\u00a0Some airport bus companies offer a drop-off at the domestic airport for an additional fee. You should calculate at least 2,5 hours for the transfer between airports.<\/p>\n<p>From Reykjavik Domestic Airport you fly to Egilssta\u00f0ir. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.icelandair.com\/en-gb\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><strong>Icelandair<\/strong><\/a> operates this flight several times a day and it takes one hour.<\/p>\n<p><strong>It is advisable to coordinate arrival times in Egilssta\u00f0ir with the <a href=\"https:\/\/straeto.is\/en\/route-planner\/timetables\/route-93\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">local minibus<\/a>\u00a0to Sey\u00f0isfj\u00f6r\u00f0ur. <\/strong>The morning flight connects directly to the bus on weekdays, pick up is at the airport. There is no bus on\u00a0Sundays and on public holidays.\u00a0The minibus will take you over the mountain pass Fjar\u00f0arhei\u00f0i into Sey\u00f0isfj\u00f6r\u00f0ur in approximately 25 min. \u00a0\u00a0<strong><a href=\"https:\/\/straeto.is\/en\/route-planner\/timetables\/route-93\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Bus 93 timetable Egilssta\u00f0ir \u2013 Sey\u00f0isfj\u00f6r\u00f0ur<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>If linking the flight to the bus schedule is absolutely impossible, or if you miss the bus, you can hitchhike, or take a taxi, which will cost around 12.000 ISK (80 Euros).\u00a0Taxi contacts: Guttormur 00354-6594828; J\u00f3n 00354-8982625.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>By car\/bus:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The car journey from Keflav\u00edk\/Reykjav\u00edk to Sey\u00f0isfj\u00f6r\u00f0ur takes 8-10 hours depending on weather\/road conditions. In the winter months (November to April) traveling by road can be problematic due to bad weather and icy roads, so please consider if you feel confident and experienced enough to drive in these conditions, and perhaps plan an extra day or two for the trip. If you drive, keep checking weather and road conditions. Very good advice is available at <a href=\"http:\/\/www.safetravel.is\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><strong>www.safetravel.is<\/strong><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Traveling by scheduled bus from Reykjav\u00edk takes around 14 hours and\/or requires a one-night stopover in Akureyri or H\u00f6fn. It is a beautiful way to get to know the country and its landscape on the way. Occasionally Sey\u00f0isfj\u00f6r\u00f0ur gets snowed in and the mountain road to the airport is closed, so we cannot reach the airport for a day or two. But the town is small (population around 650), and it only takes a few minutes to walk from one end to the other.\u00a0Our residencies are located in three different houses. There is also free WiFi at the Skaftfell Bistro and at several other locations in town.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>Other artists-in-residence\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>There are 3-4 artists on the Skaftfell residency program at the same time. We usually meet for coffee once a week in the Skaftfell office or elsewhere by individual arrangement.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>What to bring<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Warm, waterproof clothes, hat, gloves, scarf, woolly sweater, hiking boots or other good waterproof shoes\/boots, swimsuit, sunglasses, warm socks for wearing indoors.<\/li>\n<li>Private computers, cameras, adapters to connect to data projectors etc., specialized art materials and tools as needed.<\/li>\n<li>European citizens are advised to bring a <a href=\"http:\/\/ec.europa.eu\/social\/main.jsp?catId=559\">European Health Insurance Card<\/a>.<\/li>\n<li>Towels and bedlinen are provided in the residency apartments.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>Shopping and art supplies<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>There is only one supermarket in Sey\u00f0isfj\u00f6r\u00f0ur. More extensive (and cheaper) shopping can be done in Egilssta\u00f0ir.<\/p>\n<p>Sey\u00f0isfj\u00f6r\u00f0ur has a post office, a bank, and a cash machine (ATM).<\/p>\n<p>There are no art supply stores in Sey\u00f0isfj\u00f6r\u00f0ur. In Egilssta\u00f0ir there is a hardware store called\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.husa.is\/\">H\u00fasasmi\u00f0jan<\/a>. The stationary shop <a href=\"http:\/\/www.a4.is\">A4<\/a> sells paper and basic drawing utensils, as well as some art materials. The printshop <a href=\"http:\/\/www.heradsprent.is\/\">H\u00e9radsprent <\/a>in Egilssta\u00f0ir has a selection of paper, paint, and basic tools, and offers a wide range of printing services. The Skaftfell office\u00a0also sells a small range of paper. Furthermore it is possible to order from shops in Reykjav\u00edk.
