Skaftfell is a meeting point for artists and locals and serves as a center for visual art in all East Iceland.<\/p>\n<p>Exhibitions in the developing years included: <a href=\"\/?p=3205&#038;lang=en\" target=\"_blank\">Boekie Woekie<\/a> in 1996,<a href=\"\/?p=10908&#038;lang=en\" target=\"_blank\"> Exhibition for everything \u2013 in honour and memory of Dieter Roth<\/a> in 1998, <a href=\"\/?p=3213&#038;lang=en\" target=\"_blank\">Bernd Koberling, Bj\u00f6rn Roth &amp; Dieter Roth<\/a> in 1999.<\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/player.vimeo.com\/video\/191065392\" width=\"640\" height=\"486\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen=\"allowfullscreen\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/vimeo.com\/191065392\">Boekie Woekie, Skaftfell, Sey\u00f0isfj\u00f6r\u00f0ur, 1996<\/a> from <a href=\"https:\/\/vimeo.com\/user14145090\">Skaftfell<\/a> on <a href=\"https:\/\/vimeo.com\">Vimeo<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>The center is situated in a grand 420 sq. timber house, built in 1907. In addition to the main exhibition space with running exhibitions the whole year through, Skaftfell houses a\u00a0150 sq. gallery and\u00a0a Bistro with a good library of book-art, art-books and related material. The main emphasis being on contemporary art. Skaftfell has an important role in the area as a center of information and education on art and art related subjects. Every year Skaftfell organizes and\/or hosts various seminars with art students in collaboration with the Icelandic Art Academy and other schools and institutions on all school levels.<\/p>\n<p>Skaftfell is founded in memory of the artist Dieter Roth (1930-1998) who lived and worked in Sey\u00f0isfj\u00f6r\u00f0ur for periods of time during the last decade of his life.
