The Skaftfell Group is an\u00a0association founded in 1997 with the purpose of advancing the arts in Sey\u00f0isfj\u00f6r\u00f0ur and the eastern region of Iceland. The original members\u00a0founded Skaftfell Art Center as a non-profit\u00a0organisation in 1998.\u00a0The membership\u00a0has since expanded to include many other devoted supporters of Skaftfell.<\/p>\n
The Skaftfell Group is officially charged with\u00a0group appointing\u00a0two directors and two alternates\u00a0members to the board of Skaftfell, as well as two alternates. The role\u00a0of the\u00a0Skaftfell Group board appointees\u00a0is to ensure that Skaftfell develops and prospers within the framework of its founding principles\u00a0original idea and in parallel with trends in the international art world.<\/p>\n
The Skaftfell Group welcomes new members! The group’s activities include\u00a0a general meeting held every three years, to coincide with the time to renew the board of Skaftfell,\u00a0as well as other\u00a0meetings held throughout the year,\u00a0with the main purpose of recruiting new members. The board of the group works with the Skaftfell director to further strengthen the group\u2019s activities.<\/p>\n
Membership in the Skaftfell Group includes being on a priority mailing list to receive Skaftfell’s newsletters, as well as invitations to\u00a0exhibition\u00a0openings, artist\u00a0talks, and other events. It also includes a 15% discount\u00a0on books and merchandise.<\/p>\n
Membership is\u00a0charged annually, with a suggested fee of\u00a02.000 ISK, which\u00a0is optional. Membership fees help support Skaftfell’s ongoing activities.<\/p>\n
