Current Artists-in-Residence \u00c3\u0081sd\u00c3\u00ads Sif Gunnarsd\u00c3\u00b3ttir (IS), Manfred Hubmann (AT), and Yann Leguay (F) will host a mutual two-day exhibition at the Bookshop – Projectspace. The last hour of the exhibition – from 16.00 to 17.00 on Wednesday, the artists will all be present for a mini-finissage and light refreshments.<\/p>\n

Yann Leguay: <\/em><\/strong>The sailing stone<\/em><\/p>\n

During the early decades of 2000, a common stone from the Seydifjordur\u00c2\u0092s mountains side has disappeared during a bit more than a week. The story says that it has travelled more than 6000 km over the ocean to return to its exact location a few days later. Some people have seen this stone on the road to Egilsstadir by a sunny day, others have seen it pass by in Europe a bit later. This strange stone is located near the waterfall on the left side of the fjord, exactly at\u00c2\u00a0 N 65\u00c2\u00b0 17′ 9.398″ , O 13\u00c2\u00b0 58′ 51.42.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

Yann Leguay<\/a> (b. 1981, Fr) lives and works in Brussels. In his work involves the materiality of memory and data storage, Yann Leguay seeks to turn reality in on itself using basic means in the form of objects and videos or during installations and performances he gives at several concert venues, exhibitions and festivals in Europe and further. He developed the independent label Phonotopy which offers a conceptual approach to recording media, and currently runs the DRIFT collection within the Artkillart label.<\/p>\n

During the course of my residency in Sey\u00c3\u00b0<\/em>isfj\u00c3\u00b6r\u00c3\u00b0<\/em>ur I am interested geological processes, the construction and shaping of landscapes and the forming and effects of these powers on surfaces and different materials.
\nIceland is a fairly young landmass, geological and climatic activities make it possible to observe nature in its formation, almost like looking a sculptor over the shoulder.
\nIndustrial architecture, human activities, the building of dams and roads have a strong impact on the formation and shaping of landscape as well and maybe there are even elves putting their hand to it.
\nI try to investigate and reflect these processes in my sculptures.<\/div>\n

\u00c3\u0081sd\u00c3\u00ads Sif Gunnarsd\u00c3\u00b3ttir has been working on a poetry record and is going to transform a few of the poems to performances.\u00c2\u00a0Each performance will be shown to one person at a time and last for 5 minutes. Alongside the performance an organized visual moment will be screened. \u00c2\u00a0A personal performance by the artist is 500 ISK.<\/p>\n
