The selection process for the Skaftfell residency program for 2017 has now finished. Nearly 325 applications were received; a 30% increase from the year before. A selection panel reviewed all of the applications to finalise the selection for the residency positions. The Skaftfell residencies are self-directed and can be used for research and\/or for the production of work. Three artists received a travel and residency grant through the Nordic Culture Point Soren Thilo<\/a> (DK), Tina Helen Funder<\/a> (DK) and Tuula N\u00e4rhinen<\/a> (FI), and one artist, Uta P\u00fctz<\/a> (DE), s staying courtesy of Goethe-Institut D\u00e4nemark,<\/p>\n

The Skaftfell residency artists for 2017 are: Desmond Church<\/a> (UK), El\u00edn Hansd\u00f3ttir <\/a>(IS), Hannah Anbert <\/a>(DK), Inga Danysz<\/a> (PL), Jan Groos<\/a> (DE) & Susanne Richter<\/a> (AT), Jessica MacMillan<\/a> (US), Kristie MacDonald <\/a>(CA), Maiken Stene <\/a>(NO), Malin Franz\u00e9n<\/a> (SE), Mary Hurrell<\/a> (UK), Melodie Mousset (FR), Mitch Karunaratne <\/a>(UK), Sandrine Schaefer<\/a> (US), Soren Thilo<\/a> & Tina Helen Funder<\/a> (DK), Tuula N\u00e4rhinen<\/a> (FI), Tzu Ting Wang<\/a> (TW), Uta P\u00fctz<\/a> (DE), Yen Noh<\/a> (KR)<\/strong><\/p>\n

At the beginning of the year, Skaftfell hosted its first thematic residency, entitled Printing Matter<\/a>. The program focused on printmaking and artist bookmaking with the aim of creating a platform for exchange, discussion, and collaboration amongst fellow artists from various disciplines. The residency was developed and guided by Danish artist and graphic designer \u00c5se Eg J\u00f8rgensen<\/a> and Litten Nystr\u00f6m<\/a> and realised in collaboration with the Technical Museum of East Iceland<\/a>, where the artists had access to working facilities and printmaking equipment<\/p>\n

Participating artists were: Andrea deBruijn (CA), Ann Kenny<\/a> (IE), J. Pascoe<\/a> (US), Jordan Parks<\/a> (US), Liv Strand<\/a> (SE), Mark Chung<\/a> (CN), Roxanne Sexauer<\/a> (US), Sisse Hoffmann <\/a>(DK), Sunny Chyun<\/a> (KR)<\/strong><\/p>\n
